It hasn’t been all food prep and post-holiday slump here.
Just before New Years Rickard ordered a 3d-printer from a local electronics company. It came delivered in a kit and it took him a while to put it all together. The fact that he strained his back half way through and could hardly move didn’t make it go quicker. We were all eager for him to be finished but his back problem forced him to stop.
But after resting up for a few days he got it all put together!
If you follow me on Instagram (which you should because I’m a lot more consistent there than I am here on zee blog) you’ll have seen this picture before. There are videos and stuff there as well.
He’s printed a few things but this phone stand/holder is the first thing that someone (me) is actually using. He found the design on Thingiverse and downloaded it and printed it for me. It took a little more than 2 hours before it was done. He’s got a long list of things he wants to try and design and print. I have a few things on the list as well – a larger tentacle stand for my iPad for instance.
Our parents have been curious and interested but in the end the question always came up: “What are you going to use it for?”
I believe in a few years (10 or so), having a 3D-printer won’t be much different from having a sewing machine.
